My Project Charter template is the tool I use to align client expectations and build trust from day one. It takes 15 minutes to fill out and stops the phrase “but I thought this was included” in its tracks.

V-Ray Cosmos is a treasure trove of pre-built assets. But sometimes, you crave a personalized touch. This video unlocks the secrets of changing materials for these assets in V-Ray for SketchUp!

No more hunting for icons – just a few keystrokes and you’re ready to conquer your 3D creations!

V-Ray’s Cosmos Browser is a design game-changer, offering a treasure trove of pre-built assets to inject instant brilliance into your interiors. But sometimes, your vision demands a personalized touch.

Fear not, design warriors! This post unlocks the secrets of changing materials for V-Ray Cosmos assets in SketchUp, empowering you to truly make them your own.

Open the Chaos Cosmos Browser and Asset Editor in SketchUp. It’s your portal to a world of possibilities. Browse or search for the perfect asset that ignites your design spark. Download and import it into your model, setting the stage for your creative transformation.

With your asset placed, navigate to the “Geometry” tab in the Asset Editor and select your chosen masterpiece. Now, the key: click “Merge” in the side window. This magical step converts your asset into a proxy mesh, ready to embrace a material makeover.

Don’t forget to check “Use Mtl Override” and set “Representations” to “Low” under “Parameters” for optimal editing.

Merging unlocked the power of the “Materials” tab in the side window. If you have pre-prepared materials, leap ahead. Otherwise, prepare to be dazzled by the Cosmos Material Library! Use the search bar to find the perfect textures, then click “Import” in the Chaos Cosmos Browser to add them to your Asset Editor’s Materials List.

Tick “triplanar mapping” under “Import Options” for seamless texture application.

Now, the magic happens! Use the dropdown menu next to each material slot to assign a different Cosmos material from your list. Feeling adventurous? Click “Edit Selected Material” to delve into the settings and create your own masterpiece.

You can use your own custom materials too! Check out this video.

With these steps, you’re now equipped to unleash your creative vision and transform V-Ray Cosmos assets into design elements that truly reflect your unique style. Don’t be afraid to experiment, mix and match, and create something truly breathtaking!
